Aerobic high-intensity intervals improve V[O.sub.2max] more than moderate training
Article Abstract:
The responses in maximal oxygen uptake V[O.sub.2max], the stroke volume of the heart (SV) and the blood volume are analyzed to compare the effects of aerobic endurance training at different intensities and with different methods. The analysis clearly indicates that high-aerobic intensity endurance interval training highly improves the V[O.sub.2max], as well as the SV of a person, as compared to moderate training.

Dose-related effects of prolonged NaHC[O.sub.3] ingestion during high-intensity exercise
Article Abstract:
A study seeks to determine whether different levels of sodium bicarbonate (NaHC[O.sub.3]) intake influences acid-base balance and performance during high-intensity exercise after five days of supplementation. Results lead to the conclusion that NaHC[O.sub.3] administration for five days might prevent acid-balance disturbances and improve performance during anaerobic exercise in a dose-dependent manner.

Oxidative stress responses in older men during endurance training and detraining
Article Abstract:
The responses of selected markers of oxidative stress and antioxidant status in inactive older men during endurance training (ET) and detraining are studied. ET may attenuate basal and exercise-induced lipid peroxidation and increase protection against oxidative stress by increasing total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and glutathione peroxidase activity.
